Help Justin & Gloria have a baby

Donation protected
Two years ago, Justin and I made the decision to stop birth control so that we could start trying to expand our little family. After the removal of my IUD, we began the process of monitoring cycles and quickly figured out that something was wrong. Much of 2019 was spent working with fertility specialists to get the necessary tests to figure what the problem was, and at the end of 2019 we finally had a diagnosis of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) in hand. In my case, my PCOS is making it so that I am not ovulating on my own; and while we were grateful to figure out what was wrong, we were now also tasked with finding ways to overcome the hurdles of this diagnosis to have a baby.

In March of 2020 after a year of trying “naturally”, we were fortunate enough to find a small clinic in Edmonds, WA that specializes in low-tech, low-cost fertility treatments and began doing medicated cycles every month to kickstart my body into ovulating, hoping to finally become pregnant. With each unsuccessful cycle, we would make slight modifications in hopes that this change would be the one that succeeded and gave us our dream baby. Unfortunately, this was to no avail. In December of 2020, Justin and I were informed that the lower tech options were not going to work for us; It was time to move on to IVF.

Our original plan was to begin IVF after I had graduated from Seattle Pacific University with my B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology, however when I called to start scheduling the appointments I was informed that the clinic had several cancellations, so if we were interested we could start now. Of course Justin and I jumped on the opportunity to begin growing our family even sooner, and are expected to begin treatment in the next few weeks.

So now as we move on to our next option, we have another hurdle to overcome. IVF is unfortunately not covered by our insurance, and so the money raised here would go towards the costs involved in the first cycle of IVF (medication, procedures, anesthesia, travel, and testing). We’ve been so fortunate to be surrounded by such love and support thus far in our journey, and we would like to humbly ask for the love and support of the rest of our community as we begin this next phase in our journey.

With much love,

Gloria and Justin Foster
