Help June & Clay During Their Health Crisis

Donation protected
It's not easy for me to write this. Our family has always been proud and self-sufficient, never wanting to burden others with our struggles. But sometimes life presents challenges too great to face alone, and I've reached a point where I need to ask for help on behalf of my parents, June and Clay.

Their Situation

For over 30 years, my parents have lived in the same home they worked so hard to buy, raising their family there. Today, that home has become both a haven and a challenge as both my parents face serious health issues on a fixed income.

About a year and a half ago, Mom's health took a dramatic turn. Already managing diabetes, her mobility significantly declined following a car accident in 2023, eventually leaving her wheelchair-bound. Dad, while also disabled, has continued working to keep up with their mortgage payments, knowing their home is where they've built their life together.

In January, our world was further shaken when Mom became incoherent and barely responsive. At the hospital, we received devastating news – she was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Though she initially improved enough to return home, getting proper care has been an uphill battle. Her insurance has repeatedly delayed approval for critical tests to determine if the cancer was spreading.

As weeks turned into months of bureaucratic back-and-forth, Mom's condition worsened. She's currently back in the hospital, where doctors have discovered the cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Adding to her suffering, a bed sore from her previous hospital stay has led to osteomyelitis in her tailbone.

Meanwhile, Dad recently learned he has pre-cancerous colon polyps requiring removal. His procedure is scheduled for May 9th, with an expected two-week recovery – time he can't afford to take off work, but medically must. The $400 co-pay alone is stretching their limited resources to the breaking point.

With Mom requiring assistance for basic mobility and hygiene, and everyone in the household working full-time jobs, each day has become a delicate balancing act. They're already two months behind on their mortgage, and Dad's necessary recovery time will only deepen their financial strain.

How Your Support Will Help

We're hoping to raise enough to help my parents through this critical period:

$12,000 will catch them up on mortgage payments and provide 2-3 months of housing security, allowing Dad the time he needs to recover without the stress of potentially losing their home.

$8,000 will cover medical expenses not covered by their insurance including co-pays, medications, and specialized equipment

$15,000 will retrofit their bathroom with a wheelchair-accessible shower base to replace the current bathtub, which is extremely difficult and dangerous for Mom to use

Your Generosity Matters

Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to our family. My parents have always been the ones to offer help to others, never asking for anything in return. They've faced every challenge with dignity and resilience, but this time, they cannot do it alone.

If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign would also be deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for any support you can offer during this difficult chapter in my parents' lives. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
