Hello, my name is Julius Carl, and I’m raising funds to help my family recover after Typhoon Halong devastated our home and community of Kwigillingok, Alaska.

When the storm hit, powerful winds and flooding caused severe damage across the village. My family lost our home and most of our belongings. We have since relocated to temporary housing in Anchorage, where we’re doing our best to find stability and rebuild our lives.

In addition to caring for my family, I’ve been continuing my job as a Tribal Liaison with Permafrost Pathways where I have been monitoring and mapping environmental impacts, including permafrost thaw, erosion, and flooding, in my community.

Our first fundraising goal is $5,000, which will help cover:

Basic living costs in Anchorage (temporary housing, food, and household essentials),

Replacement of items lost in the storm,

Warm clothing and other expenses as we prepare for winter

Once this initial goal is met, I’ll post an update and, if needed, expand the campaign to support longer-term recovery — including more permanent housing and transportation.
