Hello friends and family! As many of you may or may not know, I have been given the opportunity to participate in the Harambee Arts Program, an Expressive Arts Therapy Organization, by traveling to Nairobi and Nankuyi, Kenya. While in Kenya I will be practicing art therapy skills in order to help alleviate the effects of trauma on the heart and minds of women and children. There will be three programs during this trip where I will create art with women in prison with HIV, children with disabilities at the city primary school, and children who reside in the “slums” of Nairobi and Nanyuki. I am extremely excited about this opportunity because it combines my passion for art and my passion for helping others. To participate in this life altering experience I am looking to raise $7,000 to cover the cost of travel, housing, food, and supplies.
