My name is Juanita, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. My daughter has been fighting a severe kidney disease for over a year now. A full year of hospital stays, doctor visits, sleepless nights, medications, and watching my child suffer through something no mother should ever have to witness.

Because of her condition, I haven’t been able to work. My days and nights revolve around her care, being by her side, and making sure she has everything she needs. Over time, with no steady income coming in, everything started falling apart. I’ve used every single resource for help with lights, gas, and housing. I’ve tried everything I could before coming to this point.

Now, we’re behind on rent and facing eviction. We’re out of options, and the weight of trying to stay strong for her while I silently break has been overwhelming.

What makes this even harder is how embarrassing and humbling this is for me. I’ve always been the one who had it together. The one people could depend on. The one who made things work, no matter what. Asking for help like this… it hurts my pride, it hurts my heart, and it’s taking everything in me to even write this. But I would do anything for my daughter, even if it means reaching out like this and admitting we need help.

I’m asking for support not for anything extra, just for the basics. A roof over our heads. A safe place for my daughter to heal. The chance to breathe again without the fear of losing everything while she’s still fighting for her health.
