Help JRN Community Housing Get Back on the Road After Fire Loss

Hi everyone,
My name is Peter Nous, and I run JRN Community Housing and JRN Community Support — community initiatives dedicated to helping people who are homeless, struggling with addiction, mental health or needing a fresh start. JRN was founded in memory of my brothers Joseph Refaat Nous and George Refaat Nous.

Our food truck operates six days a week across multiple locations, providing free meals, support, and connection to people doing it tough.

Our work doesn’t stop at food and conversation — we also help people get into rehab and detox programs and place them in sober living housing, giving them a safe environment and a real chance to rebuild their lives.

Every Wednesday night, we’re in Pakenham, running our homeless outreach — serving warm meals, listening, and helping people take steps toward turning their lives around. Sadly, on Wednesday night, 15th October, after finishing our outreach, our truck caught on fire on the way home. The truck is vital to everything we do — it tows our food truck and carries all the supplies we need to run our outreach programs.

The fire caused devastating damage. We lost:
• Our generator (which powers the food truck)
• All our tables, chairs, pots, pans, and cooking gear
• Every plate, bowl, fork, and spoon we use to serve meals
• The storage boxes, toolboxes, and tray on the truck — all destroyed
• Our food truck had to be completely emptied due to smoke contamination

This loss has brought our outreach to a standstill. We can’t serve meals, travel, or provide the same level of support until we replace what’s been lost.

We’re asking for your help to get back on the road and continue doing what we love — feeding, supporting, and helping people find a path to recovery and a better life.

Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward:
• Replacing our generator and essential outreach equipment
• Repairing or replacing the damaged truck
• Restocking all our supplies for our nightly food runs and weekly outreach

Your kindness will help us rebuild and continue offering hope, meals, and recovery pathways to those who need it most.

Thank you so much for your support,
Peter Nous
