Help Josue Heal After Brutal Attack

Donation protected
My name is Cris Lumbreras and I am creating this GoFundMe page for my co-worker at Union Gospel Mission in Salem, Oregon. His name is Josue Acosta Montero. Josue is a father of 3 adult children and lives in Salem, Oregon.

I serve in the kitchen on Tuesdays. I started volunteering a few years ago, and Josue, along with all the other staff, made me feel welcome and appreciated.

My colleague was the receptionist at the front desk at the Union Gospel Mission on June 1st of this year when he was viciously attacked by someone with serious mental issues. Josue was stabbed repeatedly in his torso and in his neck. Josue is having a more difficult time talking. Josue is doing better than can be expected. He was in the Salem Hospital for a while. We are grateful that he is okay. Josue missed quite a bit of work and is only on part-time now. I know times are tough everywhere; it just feels a little tougher for Josue right now. While his medical bills and physical therapy are covered, he is having some difficulties getting to appointments, so I thought that with friends, acquaintances, and family members, we could pass the hat and get Josue some reliable transportation, gas money, and some insurance. I am also hoping he takes a mini vacation.

I am going to share the link here if you all want to read the news article and see the video. Please be advised it is not pleasant:
