Bring Chino Home

Josue, affectionately known as Chino, came to the U.S. at just 14 years old seeking asylum. Ever since, he’s poured his heart into building a better life—chasing his dream of becoming a soccer player, earning a scholarship, and becoming a role model to his family and community. Anyone who knows Josue knows he’s the definition of hardworking, respectful, loving, and kind.
On April 8th, Josue, his wife Jessica, and their 2-year-old son Joshua attended a life-changing USCIS interview for their I-130 petition. The interview went well—he was approved on the spot. But moments later, their world was turned upside down. Josue was detained by ICE due to a prior deportation order from 2018. We were in the process of trying to fix his status and do things the right way—taking all the proper legal steps to secure a path toward his legal residency. This made the sudden detention even more heartbreaking and confusing, especially after being approved at the interview.
Since then, Josue has been transferred between four different facilities and is currently being held in a Texas prison due to overcrowding in others. Josue has no criminal record and poses no threat to our community. He’s a loving father, devoted husband, and cherished friend. Jessica is now facing mounting legal fees, relocation costs, and the emotional toll of caring for their young son alone.
This page was created in response to the overwhelming love and support from friends, family, and community members who’ve asked how to help. Every contribution, share, and prayer helps bring Josue one step closer to home.
Thank you for standing with us in this difficult time. We will continue to keep everyone updated on Josue’s case.
