My son Joshua is a grown man, but for the past four years, I have been financially and emotionally caring for him after a devastating motorcycle accident. Joshua was hit by a car and spent over a month in the trauma ICU with a traumatic brain injury (TBI), compound fractures, a broken neck, broken femur, collapsed ribs, punctured lungs, and more. While the hospital bills were eventually paid, the damage to his body and mind was permanent. That accident didn’t just break him physically — it changed him mentally and emotionally. Joshua has been unable to hold steady employment since. Despite multiple attempts, he was denied SSI and medical insurance, and we were unable to find legal help to fight those denials. Since then, I have done everything I can to support him while trying to keep our household afloat.

Recently, our nightmare worsened. Joshua was brutally attacked by multiple individuals from a homeless encampment. They beat him with pipes and 2x4s, and horrifyingly, they commanded a pit mix dog to attack him. The dog viciously bit his leg. Joshua fought for his life until I was able to get him to safety, call the police, and have him transported by ambulance to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Any amount raised will help cover basic living expenses, support Joshua’s recovery and healing, relieve the constant financial pressure so he can focus on getting better, and help us regain some stability after years of crisis. I am asking for help so my son can finally have the space to heal — not just from this recent violent attack, but from everything that has compounded since his motorcycle accident.
