As many of you know, my brother, Joshua Shordon, has been courageously battling with autoimmune issues, ultimately leading to cirrhosis of the liver for over a year while waiting for a transplant. On July 13th he finally received the life-changing call—a donor match had been found.

After a grueling 16-hour surgery and a week in the ICU, Joshua was able to return home. Sadly, just a week later, he was rushed back to the hospital due to dangerously high liver enzyme levels—a sign of rejection. Thankfully, his incredible medical team adjusted his medications, and his body has begun to accept the new liver. After another week in the hospital, Joshua is now home again, focusing on recovery.

But recovery is a long road—at least a year—and Joshua needs 24/7 care. Our mom, Jaime Holland, and our sister, Chelsie Shordon, are his primary caregivers. Unfortunately, Mom cannot fully stop working because she needs to maintain the income to pay rent, and Chelsie only has about two months of FMLA, at a lower pay rate than expected. Caregiving is not covered by insurance, making this journey financially overwhelming.

We’re raising funds to help cover rent and caregiving costs so Joshua can heal without the stress of financial strain. Every donation—no matter the size—will directly help keep a roof over his head, allow our mom to keep working without jeopardizing her job, and ensure Joshua has the support he needs to recover.
