Josephine Edwards is a 51-year-old mother of eight and grandmother to ten granddaughters. On February 14, 2024, Josephine was in shock after her fiancé was stabbed. She called 911 for help, but instead of receiving compassion, she was dragged out of her home barefoot and without a coat during a winter snowstorm. Officers took her to Ramsey County Jail, where she was booked on a second-degree murder charge. Josephine, who is disabled, was traumatized and unable to fully comprehend what was happening. No one cared that she had just lost the love of her life, and no one saw her as someone in need of help—they only saw her as a suspect. She was treated unfairly and spent the next 2.5 years in jail, unable to properly mourn or defend herself.

From the very beginning, Josephine maintained her innocence and did her best to answer questions while in shock. With the help of her lawyers and a strong support system, she fought tirelessly to prove she was not guilty. On June 23, 2026, the jury acquitted Josephine, finally recognizing her innocence. However, during her time in jail, she lost everything—her home, her belongings, and most importantly, her fiancé.

Now, Josephine is homeless and starting over from scratch. She has no clothes, no phone, and no basic essentials. All donations will go toward securing housing, replacing essentials, and helping her rebuild her life. Anything helps and is deeply appreciated.
