On Father's Day 2023, my life changed dramatically. While picking up my son and his cousin, I suffered a seizure while driving, which made my already severe lower back pain much worse. The seizure caused compression fractures and neuropathy in my legs, back, and right arm. These health issues, combined with chronic PTSD from my military service, led to arguments at home. Eventually, I became homeless due to a restraining order and to avoid further conflict. Since then, I have been living in my car, cheap cabins, barns, and motels, which has drained all my savings. Now, I struggle to find food at pantries and often don't have enough gas to get around. I can't even go to the hospital for more than 24 hours because I have no one to watch my dog, who is my only companion. My spouse refuses to help with the dog, and the constant anxiety, panic attacks, and severe depression have made things even harder.
My most urgent needs right now are food, gas, and a safe shelter where my dog can stay if I need to be admitted to the hospital. I also need help with electricity and my phone bill, which are due before the end of the month. These essentials will help me and my dog get through this difficult time and give me a chance to focus on my health and stability. I feel helpless as a father because I can't have my son visit or even afford to buy him a meal. Neuropathy and the medications I take prevent me from working, as I am medically retired. I used to work helping and scheduling for my fellow military veterans, and now I am the one who needs help.
I humbly ask for your support to help me and my dog make it through to the end of the month. Any assistance you can provide would mean the world to us. Thank you for your kindness and understanding.
