Hello my name is Jordyn, and I am 20 years old. Last year I had the honor to work at ROCA Kidz Club in Manchester, New Hampshire during COVID. The organization provided inner-city kids with a safe place to learn, while their schools were shut down. They were given the resources they needed such as: technology/school supplies, breakfast/lunch, games/activities, etc. This experience completely changed my life.

The kids I worked with have been affected by “abuse, neglect, and poverty. Many of them are affected by multi-generational brokenness. Some of their parents are addicted to drugs or alcohol, while other children live in single parent homes of mothers working hard to make ends meet.” (RocaKidzClub). A lot of the kids live in rough neighborhoods, are refugees, and new Americans. Despite what they go through, they are some of the most loving and selfless individuals I have come to know. Although I’m beyond happy I’ve got to help these kids, they’ve helped me more than they know. They’ve taught me how to overcome obstacles, love one another, and be kind because you never know how much it could help someone. I now have close relationships with the kids that I hope will last a lifetime.

This year ROCA Kidz Club did not have the same school program, as the kids are back in school. However, they continue to help these kids. Every Thursday night ROCA provides a warm dinner, games/activities, and an encouraging message to close the night at two different locations in Manchester. They also host different field trips for the kids to be able to experience things they don’t have the opportunity to, like surfing at the beach or snowboarding/skiing at a mountain. ROCA Kidz Club does everything in its power to give back to the kids of Manchester, New Hampshire. All the volunteers have a commitment to these kids like you couldn’t imagine. This organization loves one another like family.

I’m asking friends, family, and strangers to come together this Holiday season to give back to the kids at ROCA Kidz Club. I couldn’t ask for a better Christmas present than being able to raise money and donate to an organization that takes care of the kids I love most. All proceeds will be donated to ROCA Kidz Club. Donations help the organization be able to afford to provide meals, clothing, school supplies, toys, field trips, etc. Please use your resources to help meet the needs of children in inner city neighborhoods of Manchester, New Hampshire. They deserve everything under the sun.
