My husband John, our son, and I have been through so much over the past few years. In 2021, our house burned down, and we lost the place we called home. For two years, we stayed in my mom’s living room, trying to rebuild our lives and find some sense of normalcy. Eventually, we were able to move into a camper, but it’s been a struggle to find comfort and stability.
John was born deaf and has faced many challenges throughout his life, including several surgeries as a child and teenager. In October 2024, John was beaten by police and arrested for resisting arrest when he didn’t hear their commands. Despite me telling the officers that John is deaf, they insisted he wasn’t disabled and proceeded to forcibly remove him from the car, causing injuries like busted lips, a chipped tooth, a concussion, and black eyes. At court, the case was thrown out because I had John’s medical records proving his disability. John has never had any criminal history, and all charges were dropped. Since then, he’s been afraid of police and doesn’t go out much except for appointments or church.
Now, John is facing his most difficult battle yet—he has an inoperable brain tumor and is dying. Living in a small camper has made it even harder for him, as he is in a lot of pain and needs a peaceful place to rest during this time. We are hoping to raise enough funds to buy a house, so John can spend his remaining time in comfort and peace, surrounded by his family. Having a real home would mean so much to us and would give John the peace and comfort he deserves. Please pray for us, and thank you for reading our story and considering helping our family.
