Hi I am Brooklyn Miller, the eldest granddaughter of Joey and Teresa Kirby.
Yesterday, our family received the kind of phone call you never expect to get.
My grandparents, our Nanny and PawPaw, lost their home and so much of what they have spent a lifetime building. In a matter of moments, the place that held years of memories, family gatherings, photographs, belongings, and pieces of a life built together was gone.
Right now, they are trying to process everything that has happened while also figuring out what comes next. There are so many immediate and unexpected expenses that come with losing a home: clothing, food, necessities, temporary living arrangements, replacing everyday items, and eventually beginning the long process of rebuilding a sense of normalcy.
If you know my grandparents, you know they are not the type of people who would ever want to ask others for anything. That is exactly why our family wanted to create this for them.
We can’t replace the sentimental things that were lost or the memories attached to them, but we can help make the days ahead a little less overwhelming.
Every donation will go toward helping Nanny and Paw Paw with their immediate needs and the expenses they encounter as they begin figuring out their next steps. No amount is too small, and if you aren’t able to give financially, sharing this fundraiser and praying for them and our family means just as much to us.
More than anything, we are incredibly grateful that they are here. A house and belongings can never compare to the lives of the people we love. We know there is a long road ahead, but we also know they won’t have to walk it alone.
Thank you to everyone who has already reached out, prayed, offered help, donated items, or simply reminded our family how loved Nanny and PawPaw are. We truly cannot put into words how much it means.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us surround them with love and support as they begin again. ❤️
