Help Joel Come Home ❤️

Hi everyone. I don’t usually ask for help like this, but my French Bulldog, Joel, had a sudden medical emergency this weekend and is currently hospitalized.

Joel is turning nine this month and has been my baby since he was a puppy. He is my first dog who has ever been completely mine, and anyone who knows me knows how much he means to me.

Yesterday morning he suddenly began shaking, struggling to breathe, and vomiting. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and admitted for oxygen therapy, IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medication, and monitoring. His doctors have also found changes in his spine consistent with IVDD, which we’ll need to manage once he is stable enough to come home.

The good news is that we caught the pneumonia early, and he has already been able to begin weaning down on oxygen. Right now his doctors are giving his body the time and support it needs to recover.

His estimated hospital costs for a two-day stay are around $10,000, and I have already paid a $4,000 deposit so his care can continue. There will also be follow-up veterinary care and treatment once he comes home.

I will make sure Joel gets what he needs regardless, but this emergency is a very large and unexpected financial hit. If anyone would like to help with his medical expenses, even a few dollars would mean more to me than I can say. Sharing this fundraiser helps just as much.
