Help "No Neighbors Left Behind" Stay on the Road

I first met Joe Buffa after my grandma passed away and I was left to clean out her apartment. I was given his name by someone who worked at Crossover Outreach. I contacted Joe and he graciously met me several times to load out all of my grandma's belongings: furniture, television, clothes, and dishes. He told me that he had a list of people waiting for all of these things. A family needed her dining room table, another family needed her bed. He pulled up a document on his phone with a seemingly endless list of families waiting for things. I was shocked to learn that Joe and his few volunteers were fielding the furniture and appliance requests of most of the agencies in our area. Because all of the services are offered free of charge, No Neighbors Left Behind is the first place organizations turn to help needy families. With an Astro van and a few volunteers, No Neighbors Left Behind is meeting the needs of an entire county and beyond.

Joe worked to start "No Neighbors Left Behind" with the Knights of Columbus Council 6742 in 2021. Since then They have delivered almost 5,000 items to over 500 families. Currently, there are 95 families on the waiting list for items. They receive referrals from over 40 agencies including churches, outreaches, pregnancy support centers, community support groups, and government agencies. Just a few of the organizations that use No Neighbors Left Behind are FISH (Grand Blanc), Habitat for Humanity, Center for Hope Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, and Crossover Outreach.

They pick up household items, appliances and furniture and deliver them to needy families free of charge. To fund this ministry, they rely on the contributions of the community to pay for gas, delivery vehicle maintenance, and warehouse rental space.

Currently, the group has had difficulty keeping up with requests because the new trucks they have acquired need to be serviced. With the rising needs of our community and the increasing cost of repairs, Joe and the volunteers at No Neighbors Left Behind need our help more than ever.

Current needs:

$10,000 in repairs to get the delivery trucks on the road and picking up and dropping off items to families

$8,000 in gas and regular maintenance on vehicles

$7,000 in warehouse rent for storage
