Help Joe, Help Amarli - "Trek for Amarli"

Most people know me as Joe from Kids Ward, where I work as a paediatric enrolled nurse at Wollongong Hospital. My mission at work has always been to put a smile on patients and their families faces.
I have been involved in supporting children for the majority of my life, including 12 years working as a Companion with Camp Quality Illawarra South Coast and am recognised as a life member.
One incredibly special girl I have met on my journey is Amarli Broome and her beautiful family, mum Jade, dad Lee and brothers Bohdi and Jordi.
I have known and worked with Amarli the whole 6 years of her life, since first admission at Wollongong Hospital at just 2 weeks old and throughout the many subsequent admissions since.
Whenever I am having a hard day, I always reflect back on Amarli's cheeky smile and the joy she is able to bring to so many others.
Sadly, Amarli battles and extremely rare condition call GRIK 2 (1 of only 3 recorded cases in the world). This rare condition has profoundly affected Amarli's quality of life, health and development. Amarli's lung function has also deteriorated over the past 12 months to where she now suffers from chronic respiratory failure and is fully dependent on mechanical ventilation.
On Sunday August 4th, 2024, I will be joining Amarli's Army and walking 35km from Stanwell Park to Wollongong Hospital.
With less than 4 weeks to go...please help me, help Amarli.
