Joe has been diagnosed with a brain bleed, multiple skull and facial fractures, and an open fracture of his leg after being hit by a car while on a scooter in the Bahamas. He will require emergency medical transport to Orlando (estimated $15,000+) to receive urgent care.

On May 3, 2026, my sister Marcy and her husband Joe were involved in a devastating scooter accident in Freeport, Bahamas after being hit by a car.

Joe’s injuries are severe. He suffered a brain bleed, multiple skull and facial fractures, and an open fracture of his right leg.

At the scene, Marcy held his head together on the side of the road for nearly 40 minutes waiting for an ambulance, not knowing if he would survive.

Joe is currently conscious and stable, but his condition is serious. He experienced seizure activity after the accident and is being closely monitored.

The level of care he needs, including orthopedic surgery and continued neurological care is not available locally. There is no orthopedic surgeon available for over a week, and Joe cannot safely wait. So, he needs to be transported to Orlando, Florida as soon as he is medically cleared.

Marcy and Joe were unable to return to their cruise ship and are now stranded in the Bahamas without medical or travel insurance.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Joe will

require a medical evacuation flight, which must be paid upfront. Right now, our focus is to get Joe home safely so he can receive the right care and surgery he urgently needs.
