This morning, Joe Berg and his life partner, Ricky Thompson, woke up to an unimaginable tragedy—their home was on fire. In a matter of moments, they lost the home they built their life in and everything they had worked so hard for. Even more heartbreaking, their beloved animals did not survive the fire. There are no words that can truly express the pain of losing not only your home and possessions, but cherished members of your family as well.
For nearly 30 years, Joe has been a true pillar of our community. He has spent 17 years working at the Wintersburg Store, where he has become a familiar and valued face to generations of people. Joe has always been there for others, giving his time, kindness, and friendship to the people around him.
Now, it is our turn to be there for Joe and Ricky. They are facing the overwhelming task of starting over from nothing. Funds raised will help provide them with immediate necessities, temporary housing, clothing, food, personal items, and the many unexpected expenses that come with losing everything in a house fire. If Joe has ever helped you, greeted you with a smile, offered a kind word, or simply been a part of your life and our community, please consider giving back to him and Ricky during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference. And if you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser can help tremendously. Let’s come together as a community and show Joe and Ricky that they are not alone. After 30 years of Joe being there for so many of us, let’s be there for him now. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, kindness, generosity, and support.
