Hi everyone, my name is Joanna Jones. I live in Brooklyn, NY, and I’m raising funds to help my family in Westmoreland, Jamaica, an area that was completely devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The storm’s eye hit directly over that area alongside others, destroying homes and leaving many with nothing.

• My uncle and cousins (separate homes) lost their roofs. Everything inside is soaked/damaged.

• One cousin now has a broken arm.

• Another set of cousins is sleeping in their car.

• Two sets of family members’ entire homes were wiped away.

• My mother’s house has shattered windows and broken doors.

In total, 14 relatives have been directly affected. I’m doing my best to help them rebuild through this GoFundMe. Every donation will go directly to them toward roof repairs, rebuilding supplies, and restoring safety.

Unfortunately, relief is difficult, especially for rural communities that were already hard to reach before the hurricane, much less after it. Your support can directly help my family recover effectively.

As we say in Jamaica, “Every mikkle mek a muckle.” Even a small contribution can make such a big difference.
