HELP JIMMY BEAT LUNG CANCER
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Debra (Gilmore) Dortch. I'm asking for your support to help my younger brother, Jim (Jimmy) Gilmore, also known as “Uncle Jay,” raise much needed money for lung cancer treatments and lost income.
For years, Jimmy has shared his love of mountain biking and taught numerous kids in the Sonoma and Napa County areas to ride bikes and jump. With his good friend Dave Frame, Jimmy has been instrumental in creating the bike trails and jumps at the Pacific Union College Experimental Forest in Angwin CA. Jimmy’s efforts, enthusiastic support, guidance and encouragement have helped kids of all ages. To me, he’s just my kid brother who I love dearly and would do anything for.
Jimmy is 54 years old and he recently survived male breast cancer after a year of chemo and radiation treatments. While he was given a clean bill of health in 2023, he just learned cancer has metastasized to his lungs. Doctors believe this is hereditary (from the breast cancer) not due to smoking or any lifestyle choices. He’s now in the fight of his life.
Jimmy is the most positive, optimistic person I know. He beat cancer once and we believe and pray he will beat it this time too, but we need your help.
Jimmy will not receive any chemo or radiation at this time. Beginning the end of January 2024, he will receive bi-weekly injections to combat this horrible disease. His medical costs in 2024, not covered by insurance, will be at least $10K. His doctor also indicated Jimmy will likely experience side effects from the disease and/or treatments that will affect his ability to work. His expected loss of income is about $20K.
As a self-employed person, the normal costs of every day living...such as rent, food, gas, car, etc. and medical costs can be astronomical. The inability to work will be devastating to Jimmy without the support from caring and generous donors. This is why your help is so desperately needed.
Let’s give back and support Jimmy when he needs it most. Please, please, please support him and give generously as you would want others to do for you. Any amount will help.
You can donate through Apple Pay, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay or credit/debit card.
I also humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family for their support.
PLEASE NOTE: GoFundMe automatically adds an admin fee to donations. This is voluntary. You can change this amount to anything you want, including zero dollars, before confirming your donation.
I thank you in advance for your support and sharing our campaign. God bless each and every one of you!
