Help Jim Verduin Heal and Support His Family

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and supporters,

My brother, Jim Verduin, owns and operates Verduin Automotive, a one-man shop in Cedar Lake, Indiana, where he’s built a reputation as a darn good mechanic. He’s a family man, raising four kids—Laila, Sophia, Isaiah, and Joshua—with his wife, Mandy, and he’s always been the guy to lend a hand. I've always known Jim to rush to help someone in need but the last to ask for help himself. Right now, he needs our support, and since I know he’d never ask, I’m doing it for him. So many of you have already been asking how you can pitch in.

On June 4th, during a rainstorm, Jim noticed his basement flooding due to clogged gutters. Determined to protect his home, he climbed a ladder to clear them but tragically slipped and fell. The accident caused severe injuries: a broken tibia and fibula, and a shattered ankle. Fortunately, the break spared internal veins and arteries, but as a diabetic, Jim’s body heals more slowly, lengthening his recovery. He was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he underwent the first of several surgeries. Doctors estimate that he will be unable to walk for at least 4 months and may not return to work for 8–12 months.

Verduin Automotive is Jim’s sole source of income. In the past, Jim tried to protect his family by applying for disability insurance, but since he is a diabetic, insurance companies repeatedly denied him coverage. With his business now temporarily closed during his recovery, Jim and his wife, Mandy, must navigate this time without his usual income while supporting their four children. This fundraiser is a way for all of us who care about Jim to come together and help cover medical bills, household expenses, and other essentials for his family.

Your donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in giving Jim and his family peace of mind during this challenging period. If you’re unable to give, would you consider sharing this page with others who may want to contribute?

Jim is a hardworking man who pours his heart into his family and community. Let’s show him the same love and support he’s always given others. Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and for joining us in lifting up the Verduin family.

With gratitude,
Tim
