Help Jim and Rachel Have a Baby

Donation protected

Hi there!

Me and my wife, Rachel, have been trying to have a baby ever since we've been married (2008).

The Journey so far...

Our journey towards growing our family has led us through several tests and Intrauterine inseminations (IUI) in 2018 and 2019. We eventually landed on IVF in July of 2019. We were only able to afford all of this treatment through the generosity of our brothers and sisters of our ecclesia (church) in Simi Valley and donations from our immediate family.

During our first and only round of IVF in 2019, the doctors were able to retrieve only one egg, but the good news is the egg fertilized and was looking good for transfer. In August of 2019, the decision was made to do a fresh transfer on Day 3. The embryo implanted and Rachel was pregnant! We were so overjoyed, excited, and thankful to God that we were finally going to grow our family and have a baby. We told anyone and everyone the good news. Unfortunately, 7 weeks into the pregnancy, Rachel suffered a miscarriage and lost the baby. It was devastating news for us as a family and really took a toll on us emotionally.

The Journey Continues....

After some discussion, we decided that we would try IVF again. However, a pandemic got in the way to the clinic in 2020. So in 2021, we picked up where we left off with IVF. We are currently going through IVF again with a new clinic and a new doctor. We are really happy so far with the new staff and facility. The current plan is to bank as many embryos that we can this year and then God willing we will do a transfer next year in 2022 to have a baby.

IVF Info

IVF is a very expensive process. Unfortunately, our insurance doesn't cover any of the medication or expenses related to IVF. Each IVF cycle at this new clinic is about $12,000. Medicine can cost around $2,000 to $5,000 per cycle. One cycle of IVF to retrieve eggs for fertilization can cost anywhere between $14,000 to $19,000. In addition, testing of each embryo is about $300. We are hoping to do anywhere between 2 to 3 cycles with testing. Also, it is about $5,000 per embryo transfer.

Call for Help

We recently got ourselves out of debt after a long period of time chipping away at our debt. We've agreed that the opportunity to have a baby is worth putting ourselves back into debt.

This is the most difficult part. We're reaching out to our friends and family for financial support in our efforts to have a baby to lessen the burden of the cost of the treatment and help to reduce the amount of debt we will be putting ourselves in. We feel this is the last opportunity for us to have a child since we are getting older.
