Hi, this is Jezebel,
I’m a single mum to a gorgeous boy with Down’s Syndrome, He is now 8, and the last eight years I’ve devoted my whole being to his care through various health and discrimination challenges as a stay at home parent carer. At the end of 2021 this holding became too much and I experienced carer burnout.
After a challenging separation at the end of 2022, at the same time as developing a serious health condition and some huge things happening in my wider family, I experienced a breakdown, PTSD symptoms and declining health.
I have since worked incredibly diligently to both physically and emotionally build myself back and create the support network we need around us.
So, to the present moment, my health condition is in remission; although I do still have flare ups which I am learning to manage, I have some spaciousness when my son is with his father, and most of all I am out in the world and truly inspired again! This is where I am asking for your help. I am a single parent with no financial support, who also hasn’t had the opportunity to build a career or any financial stability due to my situation.
Through my own deep personal process I have found a passion and a calling to be in service in the way I have and continue to have revolutionary support, as a psychotherapist.
Therapy has been a lifeline for me and has given me many gifts and I want to share this with others. The passion has always been there, I have grown up with a deep interest and often insight into people, and have always been interested in different healing and self development modalities, but the work I have achieved in the past couple of years has clarified for me the capacity for healing psychotherapy has in the world and how much I want to be a part of it, and also how much I want that to be accessible to everyone who needs it.
My son may live with me throughout his life, time will tell, but he already needs very different parenting to a typical child. I deeply want the space to focus on that, and to offer him and myself financial security, and I am ready to work hard towards that. I also want him to see me succeed so he knows what is possible and what women and mothers can achieve, but I do need the support of my community to start on that journey!
I recently completed an introductory day at the Karuna Institute for their Psychotherapy PGDip, it’s highly regarded, based locally and the timeline fits around caring for my son.
They unfortunately have no bursaries and you cannot use student finance for these courses, I’ve looked everywhere but the only option is to self fund.
By year 2/3 I can start my private practice and start earning but I need to show I can pay for for the first couple of years to be accepted for a start in 2025. It is part time for 4 years and every year is £3,995.
This adds up to £15.980 for the whole training.
There are also additional costs of weekly therapy for the duration of the training £2,000 per year, a yearly intensive costing £425 and travel to the training in Bristol each month (I will stay with friends to reduce costs) which I will be covering.
I have set the goal for this crowdfunder at two years worth of the fees £7,990 as my hope is to set up a practise from then and start to cover the costs myself.
I am also very open to a private loan arrangement for any of this amount so please do get in touch if you feel this is something you could financially support.
Any support that can be offered is so deeply appreciated, nothing is too small and means the world to me. This support will allow me to:
- Give back in service to the wider community.
- Create a life where I feel financially independent which is a huge thing for a single mother.
- Give me the space from worrying about finances to focus on my son and my studies.
- Grow more trust in this world we live in and the abundance that is out there for us all.
- Show other single mums that support is out there and if we work hard we can attain our own security no matter our circumstances.
In advance, thankyou xxx
