On Friday, October 31st, Jesus David Villegas Velasquez was abducted by ICE. He woke up at 4am that day to get some work deliveries done in the far western suburbs so he could be back in time to take his two young sons to the Trunk or Treat at their school in the Irving Park neighborhood. Instead, around 6:30 am his truck was surrounded by agents who aggressively abducted him.

He did not receive access to food or a telephone until 1 am the next day. Jesus is being held in the Broadview, IL ICE processing facility. He either sleeps lying down or sitting up on a concrete floor and has been denied a sweater or blanket despite telling guards he is very cold. He has not been given a chance to bathe or brush his teeth.

Jesus has a pro bono attorney working on his case, but his family is left trying to figure out how to survive in his absence. His wife can't access his bank accounts, and so she's unable to pay the rent or buy food and other necessities for their children while Jesus is in custody. All funds raised will go directly to supporting Jesus's wife and children while his attorney works for his release.

Jesus and his wife left Venezuela for Ecuador. From there, they made the decision to move to the US in search of better opportunities for their children, especially for their youngest who is autistic. He had been working 6 days a week as a mechanic in addition to taking odd jobs on the side to support his family. Jesus has a social security number, work permit, drivers license, and an active asylum case. He is the sole provider for his wife and two young boys, in addition to supporting his parents out of the country. He and his wife had done everything right, with a goal to become citizens.

Jesus, a man with a huge heart that wants to help and care for everyone in his life, has no criminal background in the US or other countries. And yet he was still kidnapped off the street by federal agents.
