Hi i am Jessica Harper, 42 years old and a resident of mobile Alabama. I am the owner of Jessica Harper's Loyal House of Hope. This facility is for abused and homeless women, men, teenagers&children. My goal for this facility is to provide housing and assistance to those in need due to the tragedy or failing of our economy. I personally know certain factors make it quite difficult to maintain housing and stability. Feeling there is nowhere to start from or how can i pick up the pieces in life inspired the desire to establish Jessica Harper's Loyal House of Hope. I'm hoping to also provide employment to those in need within 80 to 180 days. This will also serve as a step towards independence for clients ensuring qualification to the facility that one is capable of employment at Jessica Harper's Loyal House Of Hope. I started this facility because taking care of people in need as always been a passion of mines. I'm not just thinking in terms of this facility as a job. The inspiration for the facility was founded on my life experiences, hardships that i encountered that i was able to recover and survive from. My passion for helping others traces back to my life as a young lady with the traits that was embedded in me from the Most Highest. It was through love, prayers, guidance and support of my family that i overcame with a great purpose and thrill of helping others I then began to see and become even more passionate about the different battles that my brothers and sisters are facing in these times of need. I was determined to show them what the Highest walked me through. My passion inspired me to take people into my home at the age of 19 years old barely being able to support myself and kids. I just couldn't stand the site of seeing one walk pass the homeless, helpless, and the needy. "Glory be to God!" by not doing so, i have helped many college graduates get in homes, heal and recover from life's challenges. By pouring out genuine love and support, while motivating them into witnessing understanding, security ,love, support, and stability. All of the things help to ensure that individuals are able to maintain their health and well-being and reduce the risk of illness and injury. Being that my facility not only help the homeless we definitely help domestic violence victims for women or men, teenagers and children. The fact that i was raised around mostly men and seeing many men encounter domestic violence with no help are nowhere to turn. I want to be the first shelter to make a safe space for them also. I myself am a domestic violence survivor. I know firsthand the challenges victims face such as inability to explain abuse due to the disabling, intense feeling of fear, shame,of guilt dependence. The mere idea that the abuser will retaliate on the victim allows the destructive cycle to continue. The fear that the caregiver/offender will retaliate of act out actual threats of further harm. Domestic violence is a serious public health issue that impacts survivors on a physical and mental scale while the effects of violence can be devastating there are preventable. We will all play a part to ensure that relationships are healthy, respectful, and nonviolent for everyone. Providing a facility like this will be an honor. It's my greatest pleasure to serve my city/community in these times of need, helping and rescuing as many individuals off the streets into a safe living of working environment is my goal.
