Help Jessica’s Family Recover After a Fire

Our friend Jessica and her family lost everything in a house fire. Their apartment, her father’s apartment below them, and all their possessions inside were completely destroyed. Here’s what their home looks like now:
As new immigrants from Ecuador, the road has never been easy. And despite hardship upon hardship, this family is full of optimism and gratitude. Jessica is so thankful that everyone is alive and healthy: her father, her 10yo son, 14yo daughter, 16yo cousin, plus their two dogs and tiny newborn puppy! They are hard working, responsible, and engaged in their schools and community. The younger boy is an avid reader who recently won his school’s spelling bee, and a model student. His older sister is excited to celebrate her quinceañera this summer, and hopes to study to be a veterinarian after high school (for now, she’s a stellar babysitter!).
We have been gathering clothes, toiletries, and more for each of the family members. They will also need to find more permanent housing in a tight market with a very limited budget, and furnish the new place from scratch. We’re fundraising to support them during this difficult transition period, and to help replace items that do not get gifted.

Thankfully, no one was home except the pets, and after one very anxious night searching for their dog, Lucky, they found him!!! Everyone is reunited and safe, and they have secured temporary housing.
