Help Jessica Have Wheelchair Accessibility
Donation protected
I’m writing this on behalf of my Aunt Minelis, who’s in great need of help...
Minelis is a single mother who works as a paraprofessional educator to provide for her and her daughter Jessica. Her daughter Jessica at the age of 3 was diagnosed with Wolfram Syndrome. This syndrome is a degenerative disease that progresses with time. Eventually it leads to blindness, deafness, diabetes type I and diabetes insipidus, catheterize every two hours, muscle spasm, psychosis and many more complications.
Now, at age 22, Jessica complications worsened after last March when Jessica and Minelis were both diagnosed with Covid-19. The Covid itself wasn’t bad when she had it, but her musculoskeletal system wasn’t the same.
After getting over the virus, Jessica fell multiple times and was unable to walk up & down the stairs, she now requires a wheelchair and is completely blind. This forced them to move because going to Jessica’s weekly doctor appointments became impossible.
Minelis and her sister Angelita recently mortgaged a house together, however the doorways that leads to the bathroom needs renovation. Jessica’s wheelchair doesn’t fit through the doorways and the bathroom needs to be completely remodeled. They need to replace stairs with ramps and place handrails in specific areas, as well as making other parts of the house wheel chair accessible.
About 6 years ago, Minelis found out she had stomach cancer. Not only did she have to find strength for herself, but she needed to be strong for Jessica.. Moving forward, she had multiple major surgeries related to stomach cancer and today she’s cancer free! Minelis said - “It gives me relief to know that I have to worry a little bit less about myself and I could focus more on my daughter. “
Any small contribution to make life more comfortable would means the world to them!
