Hi, my name is Tammy Hatfield and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my father, Jerry Hattie Hatfield.

Many of you know my Dad through his amazing life and legendary history playing softball throughout Minnesota for years. He was inducted into both the Faribault Sports Hall Of Fame as well as the state.

He has dedicated over 35 years to singing in nursing homes throughout southern Minnesota.

In November 2022, he had open heart surgery for an aneurysm that had become dangerous in size. The surgery nearly took his life and set him on a path that has been the most difficult one that he has ever endured. He developed so many blood clots the next day they did another surgery, he had a collapsed lung a few days later. He also ended up with 4 bouts of different types of pneumonia.

I will never forget the Christmas that we never had without him. He was in the hospital on a video call with me and I knew I must get him home as soon as possible or he would die there.

The next day I went to the hospital and said, 'Dad, even though your health is absolutely scary, I am taking you home today. The doctor called his room and was very hesitant to release him, however, we somehow convinced him and we began the journey home. Every bump he would wince, he couldn't breathe well, was weak and a snow storm was forecasted. In my heart and in my faith, I knew still this was best even though against the odds..

I got him home by God's grace and thought even if he passes at least he is home and not alone. I pretty much moved in with him to manage his care for several months.

My daughter and I, however had our own apartment and unfortunately his is only a 1 bedroom. For 3 years I have prayed and searched for a house where we could all live together to ensure his care and well being..

He is 77 years old and struggling with falling, confusing his medications, difficulty managing day to day affairs, weakness and side effects from his meds, etc. He has also had to cut back on his singing as well :( He has had to stop going to shows and misses the music and seeing so many wonderful friends.

God has finally blessed us with a 2 bedroom home. It's a miracle really! My goal has always been to enjoy everyday together and give him a true home with us. However, the 'How to's' in the finances as well as getting us both moved into one household have been beyond overwhelming.

He asked me to start this for him as in tears saying how much we need everyone to help us in making this dream and answered prayer happen.

He is unable to put any effort into the work needed for this transition..

The funds will be for people to help with any preperation, packing, a moving truck, movers, the deposit, rent, etc.
