My name is Jerrae and I am a single mom of an 8-year-old girl. On 06/02/25 in Brooklyn Park, MN at 3 am, my daughter woke me up to tell me a man was at her window talking to her, asking her inappropriate sexual questions and asking for her to let him inside. He took the screen off her window and made sexual advances like asking her for a kiss and if she has done sexual things before. This man even attempted to let himself inside her window by trying to stick his foot through. Admittedly, her window was unlocked because we had just deep cleaned her room hours prior and opened the window to air out the chemicals. The window was closed, but I did forget to make sure it was locked…

She woke me up after he had left, and when I went outside to check, her screen door was on the floor when it previously was not.

At 8:30am I entered my parking lot complex with my child to take her to school. As we approached our car, my daughter pointed a man getting in his car parked a few spots down from us. She said it was the man at her window. When I looked to see who she pointed at, he jumped in his car and took off. This gives me reason to believe he lives in the same complex as me!

I have filed a police report and reported to my landlord, but my lease is not up until 08/08. I am able to break my lease due to the MN Statute on domestic violence; however, I cannot afford to move sooner than 08/08 with such short notice. I work full-time and would need a few paychecks before I am able to save enough to move.
