My name is Emma Hartman. I never thought I would find myself in this vulnerable position, but a friend told me, "There is no shame in asking for help," and my family truly needs it right now.

My amazing husband, Jeremy S. Hartman, father of two, Bengals fan, is facing a very delicate, rare medical challenge. He is a 2nd-time survivor of a condition known as Trigeminal Neuralgia (The Suicidal Illness). He has overcome two brain surgeries (MVD) in four years, the last one on January 21, 2025.

With the surgery being a success, although having at least three long months of recovery ahead of us, we were very happy that the hardest part was over.

I have taken FMLA without pay (my only option) in order to care for him.

Jeremy's company does not offer short-term disability, so he outsourced the benefits. Then we figured this company only covers 35% of his monthly salary and not 76% as we thought.

Unfortunately, the unthinkable happened on Saturday, February 8th. His right leg and left arm stopped working for some reason. Now he is hospitalized under studies and treatment. His brain shows a lesion (inflammation/infection) that was not there before surgery.

The neurological team is studying his case, looking for a treatment, cure, and explanation.

We have exhausted the financial resources we planned for two months after surgery, and these latest emergencies lengthen my husband's recovery process and add time and medical and monthly bills to pay.

Now we are not only overwhelmed by what is happening but also worried about all the bills to come and being able to meet them.
