I am trying to obtain joint custody of my son, Ryan. When my marriage failed, we believed we could settle child custody issues amicably, but my estranged wife and I rarely see eye to eye.  My child needs both his parents in his life to provide the balance apart that we couldn't maintain together.

  I plan on using all the proceeds to pay a father's advocacy lawyer's retainer. I don't know the law, and am not willing to wager my relationship with my son on my ability to muddle through the courts. 

 I may need the money as soon as the New Year, so I'm not waiting to start the process. If it takes longer, it will at least be something I know I've gotten covered.

If I can get the initial retainer, I can handle any additional payments that may be required in the future. Right now I'm trying to create a safe stable environment to keep my son in, and all my personal funds are going directly towards that. It is important to me to let it be known that I am not seeking alimony or monetary recompense of any sort from my ex. I just want unfettered access to my child. If we are able to settle amicably somehow, any leftover monies will go towards his needs. Food, clothing, bedroom furniture, sports equipment, extracurricular activities fees, etc...

I have no way to express my gratitude for your help other than to hold him close every day I have him. I love him more than everything.
