Hello, my name is Jeremiah Havran. I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 62 in Erie, Colorado. I am fundraising for my Eagle Scout project.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouting. Only about 6% of all scouts ever reach the Eagle. The Eagle project is an opportunity for scouts to plan, manage, and execute a service project for their community.
My scout troop is very involved in our town. One thing we manage is putting up and taking down American flags for patriotic holidays. Over time, flags become torn and are not suitable to fly, and they must be retired. However, not many people know how to do that properly.
My Eagle project is setting up American Flag collection boxes in multiple locations around town. This will allow members of our community to drop off their flags in need of retirement, and Troop 62 will collect and retire them.
The boxes will be weatherproof and similar to mail drop boxes, so that the recycled flags cannot be tampered with. There will be signage with the flag retirement process on the boxes. I want this project to serve all members of my community. Therefore, the flag retirement information will also be provided in braille.
Due to the size of this project, I have a hefty fundraising goal of $3600. Any surplus balance will be applied to the upkeep of the collection boxes.
Thank you so much for supporting my project, scouting, and my community.
