My name is Jeremiah, and I am starting this fundraiser for my family because our home has become a serious safety concern. We have owned our house since 2019, and recently a contractor found that the electrical wiring is unsafe and not up to code. When we were looking into buying the house in 2019, the inspector only called out that a new breaker box was needed. Nothing was ever said about the “spiderweb” of wires being a safety concern, so this news has been a painful and overwhelming shock. Hearing that the place where my family is supposed to feel secure may not actually be safe has been incredibly hard.

We have also already had to complete foundation repairs to the house, which were only recently finished. Because of that work, we had to rent an apartment for roughly 3 months on top of the repair costs, and that has put even more strain on us financially. On top of the wiring problems, we have also learned there may be asbestos in the HVAC system, along with other home repairs that need attention. The funds from this fundraiser will help us pay to rewire the entire house and, if possible, help with asbestos removal from the HVAC system and other needed repairs. My priority is the safety of my family, and right now we need help getting our home into a safe condition.
