Help Jen's Recovery and Rehabilitation Journey
Donation protected
Hi family, friends, and community!
I am setting up this GoFundMe for my sister-in-law, Jen Mullins. Our goal for this GoFundMe is to help with the expenses of medical care, travel, loss of income, and future rehabilitation care, as she remains in Saint Joseph Hospital at this time and we know the currently medical expenses will far surpass this goal.
Starting mid-late May, Jen believed she had food poisoning or a stomach bug and after multiple days of being sick she went to Dignity health medical center to be evaluated on 5/29 at 11:30pm.
After a short few hours scans were conducted, which determined Jen was having internal concerns that required immediate attention. She was taken by ambulance to Saint Joseph Hospital to undergo immediate surgery.
After learning about the severity of the situation, Jen was medical sedated and taken to the operating room on 5/30 at 6:00 AM. Jen was suffering from bowel concerns, sepsis, septic shock and other additional concerns as time has progressed. Jen remained sedated for the next week where she undergone 4 additionally surgeries including reconstruction.
On 6/6, Jen woke up for the first time and was communicating to us by writing on a whiteboard as she was on a ventilator. It appeared Jen was improving over the weekend, however during a CT Scan, it was identified Jen had additional leakage in her abdomen and she was rushed back to immediate surgery on June 10th to address these new concerns.
In total Jen has now undergone six emergency surgeries and is still under immediate care.
At this time, every day we are awaiting to hear the next update on we can progress forward and trying to create plans for her ongoing care with her medical and surgical teams.
For now, her ongoing care will remain at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ until she can be cleared to go to a rehabilitation center for an extended stay and additional care. We hope that rehabilitation comes within the next week, however, we are aware of the challenges and uphill battle she is on. Thank you to all of our family, friends, and her amazing coworkers who have all come by and sent unwavering support, prayers, and positive energy.
This coming week will be a month in the hospital and we are unsure of when she will be cleared for rehabilitation.Jen being out of work for the time being has left additional unforeseen expenses and loss of income, I hope this fund will help her and my brother, Michael, cover any needed expenses while Jen is recovering.
Our main priority is her continued progress, healing, and getting her home.
Again, thank you everyone for your support, the prayers, and taking the time to reach out to check on Jen. We appreciate the support and love during this time.
