My name is Jenny. I'm from Bohol in the Philippines. I come from a financially disadvantaged family, and I am the first in my family to go to university.

I was raised in a low-income household. My parents are both non-professionals; my father completed high school education, and my mother completed elementary. Due to their limited educational background, they have only been able to secure low-paying jobs, which has resulted in ongoing financial hardship for our family. I am the fourth child of seven siblings. Two of my siblings are still in school, relying mostly on my parents for support, while the others have already established their own means of livelihood.

At present, I am the only sibling pursuing a university degree. I am enrolled in the University of Bohol, currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. I knew the degree was going to cost more than what my family could afford, but I still decided to give it a go. And the fact that I am studying full-time means there is one person less who can support my family. Despite the financial hardship, I remained determined to continue my education, as earning a degree is essential to improving my family’s future.

Due to our financial situation, my family is unable to fully support my educational expenses. By God’s grace, I am currently supporting myself by working while studying. Five months ago, I relocated in order to maintain employment and help cover my tuition fees. However, despite my efforts, my current income is not sufficient to meet the full cost of my tuition and other living expenses each semester.

At the moment I am fundraising for 2026. My university tuition and all other education-related expenses will be 100,000 Pesos; that is 2,500 AUD. My rent will cost 3,500 Pesos a month or 42,000 a year; that is 1,050 AUD. My other living costs including food and transport will be 5000 Pesos a month or 60,000 a year; that is 1,500 AUD. I am hoping to raise as much as possible so that I can complete my degree and give back to my community. Any amount you can donate would be a tremendous help and would greatly ease my financial burden, allowing me to focus more on my studies and achieve academic success. I am committed to completing my degree and using my education to contribute positively to my family and society.

Since I am in the Philippines, a friend of mine in Australia is receiving the funds on my behalf.
