UPDATE - November 4, 2024:
Dear friends and family of Jennifer, we now know that Jennifer's battle with cancer will be an ongoing one. After two surgeries in quick succession over the last 6 weeks, a biopsy revealed microscopic cancer cells in the bones of her mouth. This discovery means that Jennifer's medical team at The James in Columbus will be performing another major surgery on November 18. This surgery will be very extensive and intense, and the physical road to recovery will be long and will necessitate follow-up radiation.
Jennifer will not be able to teach cello or perform for the foreseeable future, and this hiatus will greatly impact her income. She needs our help now to cover medical costs and to help create financial stability for her and her family (husband Eric and daughter Mia). Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated, as are all your prayers, well-wishes, and loving thoughts! Please share this to help us support Jennifer as she continues to courageously fight cancer and these new health challenges.
UPDATE - September 19, 2024:
Dear friends, we need your continued support for our wonderful, amazing Jennifer. Earlier this week, they found a small cancerous lesion in her mouth, which will require another (small) surgery to remove. That surgery has been scheduled for this upcoming Monday, September 23. It is expected to be a relatively simple surgery with a quick recovery, so that’s great news! It will, however, mean that Jennifer and Eric have more unexpected medical costs to cover and will absolutely appreciate any continued financial support we can give! As always - thank you for your incredible generosity and support. We cannot thank you enough!

Thank you for all this amazing support for Jennifer! It is incredibly touching to see; these donations are going to go a long way to help offset all the dental bills that will come post-surgery. My name is Rose Reidmiller Gowda and I'm organizing this GoFundMe for my dear friend and colleague, Jennifer Higgins Wagner. If you know Jennifer, you probably already know these things about her:
- she's a passionate musician (cellist), creating and teaching beautiful music every day.
- she's incredibly kind, genuine, and loving. She truly listens and deeply cares for others, and those lucky enough to be in her life feel this on the daily. Jen will always go above and beyond to help you out - you can count on her no matter what!
- she impacts the lives of young musicians in profound ways; she's a brilliant teacher and mentor, connecting to her students musically and personally with warmth, understanding, and love. She helps them to become the best musicians and people they can be.
- she's humorous, resilient, and STRONG. We have all seen her face uphill battles with determination and grace... and a few good jokes!
Now, Jennifer needs our help as she undergoes another surgery for oral cancer. She has unwavering spirit, and the amazing support of loving family and friends.
