I’m Jennifer, and I’m raising funds for my 7-year-old son, Jaxson, and our household. Jaxson is autistic, and every day I do my best to keep him safe, cared for, and supported. He struggles with destructive and dangerous behaviors, including peeling paint off the walls, making holes in our walls, climbing onto high furniture, and jumping from dressers and tables. He also elopes, which is especially terrifying because we live right next to a busy main road and do not have a fence. Our home has become filled with damage that I’ve tried to cover with duct tape and posters, but beyond how it looks, these are real safety hazards. More than anything, I want to make our home a safe place for Jaxson and a place he can enjoy instead of trying to destroy.
I am 49 years old, dealing with health issues of my own, and currently unemployed because I need to be here for Jaxson. I take both of us to regular doctor visits, and we are on several waiting lists for autism support while also looking into attention deficit disorder. Right now, Jaxson is only in the classroom for two hours a day because of how disruptive his needs can be. Donations will help us repair the damage in our home, purchase safety equipment for Jaxson’s elopement and autism-related needs, and help with his nutritional support, including the protein shakes I rely on because of his very limited eating. Asking for help is not easy for me, but I have humbled myself because I am at my wit’s end and don’t know what else to do. I am Jaxson’s only advocate, and I will do whatever I can to get him what he needs. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing our fundraiser, would mean so much to us.
