Help Jennifer Heal After a Brutal Assault

My name is Jennifer. I am 34 years old and the proud mother of two amazing boys, ages 15 and 12.

On June 18, what was supposed to be a fun evening watching the World Cup in downtown Long Beach turned into the most traumatic experience of my life.

After leaving a restaurant, I was violently attacked by someone attempting to steal my purse. I fought to hold onto my belongings, but I was punched repeatedly in the face until I hit the floor , and my purse was taken. Inside were my wallet, identification, house keys, car keys, and everything I needed to get home safely.

What hurts almost as much as the attack itself is that, despite so many people being nearby, no one came to help me or called 911 while it was happening. I was left bleeding, confused, and unable to speak. Disoriented, I wandered around the Aquarium of the Pacific for nearly 30 minutes before officers with the Long Beach Police Department found me. The incident remains under investigation.

At the hospital, I learned the full extent of my injuries:

Multiple fractures in my upper jaw

Several missing teeth

A fractured finger

A dislocated wrist

Bruises and scrapes across my body

The physical pain has been overwhelming, but the emotional trauma has been just as difficult. I have never experienced anything like this, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Doctors have told me that my recovery will be long. I need reconstructive jaw surgery, extensive dental work, rehabilitation, and months of healing before I can return to work or smile again with confidence.

Because I will be unable to work during my recovery, I am asking for help.
