Hello, my name is Jeffrey West, and I’m seeking your support. I want to express my gratitude to God for the gift of life. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure on the left side of my heart, and I was rushed by Life Flight to the Houston Medical Center. I spent six months in the ICU, during which I flatlined twice. I underwent over five surgeries, and at one point, doctors told my family there was nothing more they could do for me.
After much consideration, the decision was made to implant an LVAD heart pump. I wore it for 17 months, but unfortunately, it failed. Back in the hospital, I was told that I needed a heart transplant. The doctors explained that it could take months, or even years, to find a suitable donor. I was placed at number 872 on the transplant list. By God’s grace, just eight days later, I received the call — they had found a donor heart. My transplant surgery went nearly flawlessly, and although I was initially scheduled for a two-month recovery, I left the hospital just ten days later. Today, I’m walking 2-3 miles, driving, and back to work — all pain-free.
I would like to honor my donor’s family by bringing them to Houston for a special dinner, where I plan to present them with a teddy bear that contains a recording of their loved one’s heartbeat. I hope to cover their travel and accommodation expenses, and I need your help to make this happen, as well as to cover medical bills I’ve accumulated over the past three years. Any support, whether through donations or sharing my GoFundMe link, would mean a lot to me. Thank you for your generosity and continued support.
Sincerely, Jeffrey West
