Help Jeff & Felicia Save Their Home

Hi, our names are Jeff & Felicia Mitchell, and we are facing financial hardships where we need to seek and ask for caring hearts to donate to our cause. Currently today as it stands, we are on the verge of losing our house due to a state property tax lien that was placed on

the house in the current amount of $45,000 (Lien & Late Fees Included) which came as a complete shock to us as we thought the payments were being made through our mortgage

payments.

From what we have been able to discover since being informed of said lien is a few years back our mortgage companies were switched and when the new mortgage company took

over that is when the property tax payments through the mortgage payments ceased as well. With the original mortgage company, we did fall behind months on payments 12

months to be exact, due to an unfortunate chain of events where I (Felicia) was hospitalized due to a stroke, and I (Jeff) was without a job for a few months due to a widespread lay off from the trucking company I worked for, and covid surely did not help make anything easier, which caused us to struggle momentarily financially when all of the medical bills came in. However, we had an understanding with the original company and although we were behind, we kept making payments and the property tax payments were

still being paid through the escrow account. When the mortgage companies switched, however, the new company due to their eligibility rules if you are behind on payments, you do not qualify for them to set up an escrow account that will pay your property tax through the mortgage company and that is when the payments ceased in 2020. The new company did try to reach out to us through letter mail to inform us of our lack of eligibility, but we unfortunately thought it was the same automated

letter that we would get from the original mortgage company informing us of how many payments we were behind and the one-time payment we could make to get back up to date and again because we had an understanding with the original company we discarded it and

kept about making our monthly payments because we were still operating under the understanding we had with the original company as far as disregarding the automated letter that came every month and to just keep making payments. (As of right now we are only 8 months behind)

As of today, on our road back to stability we face yet another medical hurdle where Jeff has been diagnosed with and currently fights prostate cancer, which we were able to catch early and proud to say God has been holding our hand as we face it. But as you can imagine

dealing with all of this and getting this foreclosure news is certainly not what anyone would want to go through and that is why we are here today! As of right now we have been given a lien amount that if we can pay before the lien company completes foreclosure, we can

keep the house. The price unfortunately does increase every month as late fees will be added on after every month of it not being paid and we do not know exactly when the foreclose process will complete, all we know is that the foreclosure process does take several months BUT they assured us that foreclosure WILL happen sometime this year if we are not able to pay the lien amount before foreclosure completes. We have applied to multiple homeowner assistance programs including one through the current mortgage

company and loans, but we have been met with denial after denial as far as options where we can keep the house and set up repayment plans due to us being behind on payments

currently. We have done our best to provide a home for our family and keep an open house for those in need while trying to be the best example we can be to family and friends. We keep our

faith and trust rooted in God knowing we all will face challenges in life, and it will not always be easy and that is why we come here today. This Fundraiser is being set up to help us pay the property taxes and every cent donated will go directly to this, we thank everyone in advance who is able to donate and pray that we can keep our home, thank you and God Bless!
