Hey all! I had the opportunity to stay with my aunt Sheree in Salt Lake City this past year over the course of the pandemic. My aunt is a huge blessing to many of the elderly in her neighborhood, helping them daily with groceries, personal tasks, getting them to church, or anything else needed.
Her neighbor JD, who I had the pleasure in getting to know while living in SLC, is a 92 year old Korean War veteran who lost his wife to a brain tumor 10 years ago. He has lived alone ever since. It is just him and his little yorki-poo puppy, Abby, who he loves and really keeps his spirits up. JD is on a fixed income and has really struggled making rent each month. Cost of living in Salt Lake has changed dramatically over the last few years and his landlord recently increased his rent even more. He's had to use almost all of his savings just to make rent since his social security doesn't cover his cost of living. He doesn't have anyone in a position to help him out, and my aunt Sheree has been so kind in helping take care of him but unfortunately isn't able to give him the financial relief necessary to keep him living in his home. A 92 year old shouldn't have to worry about moving and leaving a place he calls home at his age! With that, we wanted to set up this GoFund me for him. If anyone would be so kind in donating, any help would be greatly appreciated. We would love to help him stay living in his home where he is comfortable and is loved by his neighbors.
Thank you!
