We are raising money for one of our coworkers whose daughter has recently been diagnosed with a left subacute subdural hematoma and a midline shift. This means she has had a brain bleed that had been so severe that the pressure from the blood in her skull has caused her brain to shift to the right side. Jadlynn had been struggling with headaches for a few months now leading up to this diagnosis and she had been previously misdiagnosed with migraines.
Jaydlynn is a 11 year old sweet, loving, spunky, outgoing, kind young lady who's bright smile lights up a room. She had been struggling with headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and fatigue and has made many trips to the Emergency Department and numerous doctor visits with multiple doctors which many of those outcomes were misdiagnoses of sinus infections, flu and a migraine disorder. After multiple requests from her mom asking the doctors to order an MRI or CT scan, the doctors told her it was not necessary Jadlynn simply needed to take medication, change her diet and stay hydrated during these debilitating headaches. After extensive fighting she was finally able to get a doctor to listen and order a CT scan that she had been begging for for months. This is the moment when they received the heart breaking news that Jaydlynn did not have a migraine disorder, instead she was suffering from a serious brain bleed and was immediately transported via Airlink critical care transport and ambulance to OHSU Doernbechers childrens hospital for immediate treatment.
On friday August 30, 2024 she went into surgery where they did two burr holes to evacuate the bleeding she had in her skull, a drain tube was placed to help with draining of more fluid. The doctors have no clear answers to what had caused this brain bleed and they have ruled out everything from head trauma, aneurysm, blood vessel disorders and more. They let her family know this type of bleeding is something you would see from someone who fell from a two story building and they were amazed that she was awake, alert and functioning like normal. Jadlynn is now on a long and painful road to recovery from this unfortunate situation that this beautiful girl has suffered.
We are unsure of what her recovery looks like or how long it will take for this sweet girl to make a full recovery and be back to her normal outspoken spunky self. She will need round the clock care with many follow up appointments with multiple different doctors and specialist from around the area.
Jadlynn would have been going into 6th grade this year at La Pine middle school, but that has been delayed at this time while she makes a full recovery to be able to transition her back into her routine of being young, care free girl who only has to worry about going to school and being the best big sister to her brother and new baby sister who is currently 8 weeks old.
At this time any donation is helpful as this family tries to navigate this long unknown road they have ahead of them. Jaydlynn is a fighter, who has a lot of support from her friends, family and community. We are just asking everyone to please help this family with the financial burden they are facing. Her mom Jessica will be her primary caretaker during her recovery and she is also the primary provider of the family. She will have to take an unknown amount of time off of work after already being on maternity leave from the birth of her youngest child.
Anything donated will be greatly appreciated!
