Campaign Story:

Hello, my name is Jayden Arreola, and I’m a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 483 in Glendora, California. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout project, and I need your support to complete a meaningful project that helps protect our community during wildfire emergencies.

For my project, I am partnering with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to improve and maintain Helispot 86A, a remote helicopter landing zone used during wildland firefighting operations. This site plays a critical role in allowing helicopters to land safely for water drops, refueling, and crew movement during fire responses in the foothills and surrounding areas.

Why This Project Matters:

The quick and effectiveness of setting up a helispot is of most importance in wildlamd firefighting. Helispot 86A has deteriorated over the years reducing its effectiveness during fire emergencies. Improving by building a storage box containing firefighting equipment and signs with instructions for pumping operations, will directly support firefighters’ ability to respond faster and safer.

My project will:

Build a wooden storage container for firefighting hose and equipment used for helicopter hose lays.

Install markers for 86A and signage with pumping operation instructions.

Maintaining and improving hydrants and standpipes used for water to supply helicopters during emergencies.
