Hi my name is Jose Hernandez, on July 5th my wife Tina was 32 weeks pregnant with our twin boys Joelle and Jaxson. We went to the emergency room because she was having contractions the medical staff discovered that she had preeclampsia. They monitored her for about 36 hours before discharging her. She didn’t feel comfortable going home but the doctors told us there was nothing more they can do everything seemed fine to them, she of course knows her body and felt it wasn’t a good idea however we had to leave. Hours after being discharged Jaxson’s placenta abrupted we rushed to the hospital where she needed to have an emergency c-section. Jaxson lost a lot of blood and oxygen resulting in him needing cpr and a blood transfusion. Once brought back he was put on life support, he started having seizures, and wasn’t doing very well. The doctors told us he had brain damage and a mass covering half of his liver, they said he wouldn’t make it past 2 days of life, our strong little man proved them wrong! with love, and prayer from family, friends, and even strangers that crossed our path he continued fighting for his life surprising the medical staff. They did an MRI on his liver and found it was a hematoma caused from the CPR they administered at birth. So far with the brain damage what we know is that he doesn’t have a suck, swallow, or gag reflex. Fast forward to today, he has since had surgery getting a G-tube put in for his feeds, and his esophagus tightened so he doesn’t have acid reflux. He is getting ready to finally come home after almost 3 months of living in the nicu. Since the twins were born my wife has had to care for Joelle our other 3 young children and travel daily to the hospital to be with Jaxson and learn to care for him. Now with Jaxson coming home and his medical issues he has to have frequent visits to the lung, heart, brain doctors, regular pediatric appointments, speech therapy and physical therapy. With that being said my wife had to leave her job of 16 years and we now have lost a big chunk of our income to pay our bills, I’m not one to ask for money however, we’re in need of help financially. We hear stories about similar situations and never think something like that could ever happen to us being that we are young and healthy but here we are… They say god only gives you what he knows you can handle, we believe we’re gonna get through this bump in the road. We wanna thank you for taking the time out of your day to read our story and for any donations you can give.
