Help Jason Kashiwai rebuild his surfboard factory
Aloha,
My name is Jason Shibata. I'm a friend of Jason Kashiwai. When I heard about the setback that "Kash" is going through I felt compelled to do what I could. Please see his letter to you all below:
To our family, friends, dedicated customers and loyal partners within the best surfing community,
I am so humbled by the thought, prayers and outpouring support and am beyond touched by the outreach you have all shown these last few weeks. A special and big mahalo to Batz for what you created to help, I can not express my gratitude enough.
All my lifetime friends who have offered to help, called to check in, and stopped by to visit, you guys are all genuine and I’m a lucky man to have built such amazing friendships.
The fire was unexpected, I was at work that day and quickly responded to a loud noticeable pop and black smoke that immediately followed. I did what I could with what I had but had to evacuate and allow the professional help of HFD and HPD to do their job.
My shaping room and tools that I have used and collected throughout my shaping career was destroyed, items I have used daily to create my boards were completely burnt. The machine I spent years saving for and use to cut blanks for my shaping buddies and businessmen, damaged. My stock of blanks and blanks belonging to other shapers were melted and beyond being utilized. Things could have been worse; lives could’ve been lost including my own if I wasn’t aware or responded as I did, so for that I am forever grateful. The traumatizing effect remains as I think back but I know with the support of my family, friends and awesome customers that I, we will get through this. It will take time, but I promise I’ll be back creating the boards you all love.
Mahalo-
Kash
