Hi everyone, it's Jane writing this. This is mortifying, but we don't know what else to do. We've been hit left and right with huge bills (most in the medical/vet category), and we're tapped out. Thousands for George and Jonesy, and we lost both of them anyway. We adopted a kitty from the shelter on 5/20, only to bring him to the vet two days later with health issues. Now, today, May 25, our other kitty won't eat and obviously doesn't feel well. She is swallowing hard and coughing. Vet isn't open today so it's back to the ER. Twice as expensive. Our hearts are breaking. 

I've been putting off the cataract surgery I desperately need for so long I can barely function. My equilibrium is way off and I'm nauseated and dizzy most of the time because of it. Light absolutely kills my eyes, I keep the house very dark inside and go outside only when necessary, but it's blinding. Cataracts don't just make it hard to see. They bring a host of other issues the longer you put off addressing them. I've had some gastro health issues going on for months. Was able to get the CT scan (which came out good), had blood tests upon blood tests, take lots of meds, but there's more going on somewhere because I still feel lousy. Couldn't afford the gastro study my doc ordered at a $1200 co-pay. What the hell are people supposed to do in this country if they're not well-off? Your life is only worth the healthcare you can afford. What a wonderful message.

The stress is overwhelming us, and my mental health is at an all time low. I'm just going through the motions at this point. I feel nothing but anxiety, depression and raging anger. Any joyful or happy moment is fleeting. We keep trying and the hits keep coming. This is the last thing I wanted to do, but we have maxxed out every available avenue. EVERY. ONE. (Yes, even the Care Card, at 36% interest.)
