<div>At 1:30 on the morning of January 26th, at the height of a historic snowstorm, a three-alarm fire ripped through my sister Barbie’s Winthrop home. Fire departments from Boston, Chelsea, Revere, Everett, and Massport rendered assistance to Winthrop, with seven fire trucks in all fighting a blaze in snowfall totals, freezing temperatures, and subzero windchills not seen by firefighters in 20 years. While blessed to have escaped with her life, Barbie literally left with the clothes on her back, her cellphone, and pocketbook, while her basement apartment filled up with the water being poured on a conflagration above that eventually overtook her unit as well. The house was deemed a total loss and will be demolished. Two days later, Wednesday, January 28th, we gained access briefly and retrieved Barbie’s engagement ring, passport, and a few important papers; but all of her clothes, food, kitchenware, furniture, bedding, computers, books — essentially anything and everything of practical and sentimental value — was lost. Barbie is left with absolutely nothing of her own in the middle of a deadly cold winter. The funds raised will help Barbie replace essential items and support her as she starts over after this absolute nightmare. We are reaching out for help so Barbie can rebuild her life after this devastating loss. Any support will make a difference and is deeply appreciated.

<div>Hi everyone, it's Jane writing this. This is mortifying, but we don't know what else to do. We've been hit left and right with huge bills (most in the medical/vet category), and we're tapped out. Thousands for George and Jonesy, and we lost both of them anyway. We adopted a kitty from the shelter on 5/20, only to bring him to the vet two days later with health issues. Now, today, May 25, our other kitty won't eat and obviously doesn't feel well. She is swallowing hard and coughing. Vet isn't open today so it's back to the ER. Twice as expensive. Our hearts are breaking.

<div>I've been putting off the cataract surgery I desperately need for so long I can barely function. My equilibrium is way off and I'm nauseated and dizzy most of the time because of it. Light absolutely kills my eyes, I keep the house very dark inside and go outside only when necessary, but it's blinding. Cataracts don't just make it hard to see. They bring a host of other issues the longer you put off addressing them. I've had some gastro health issues going on for months. Was able to get the CT scan (which came out good), had blood tests upon blood tests, take lots of meds, but there's more going on somewhere because I still feel lousy. Couldn't afford the gastro study my doc ordered at a $1200 co-pay. What the hell are people supposed to do in this country if they're not well-off? Your life is only worth the healthcare you can afford. What a wonderful message.

<div>The stress is overwhelming us, and my mental health is at an all time low. I'm just going through the motions at this point. I feel nothing but anxiety, depression and raging anger. Any joyful or happy moment is fleeting. We keep trying and the hits keep coming. This is the last thing I wanted to do, but we have maxxed out every available avenue. EVERY. ONE. (Yes, even the Care Card, at 36% interest.)

<div>Our cousin and friend Emily Norman is in a wheel chair and is house bound because she can’t get down the steep steps from her apartment. We are raising funds to help her get an outdoor stair lift installed so she can get out and about more. Her landlady has generously approved this, and the town permits have been granted.

<div>Those who know Em know how upbeat and positive she always is in-spite of a complicated medical history. She struggles with a disease called neurofibromatosis where tumors located on the nerve roots of her spinal cord cause weakness and nerve damage in her arms and legs. A few years ago she had a stroke, which left her even more dependent on a wheel chair than before. Just a year ago she broke her ankle which keeps her in the wheel chair.

<div>Em currently spends $600 for transportation, someone to lift her down the stairs every time she needs to see a doctor. And then, back up when she gets back home. Because of this cost she limits going out to absolutely necessary appointments.

<div>A stair lift would allow Emily and her wonderful partner Robert more independence as well as allow her to remain in her home as opposed to moving to a nursing facility.

Help Emily Gain Independence with a Stair Lift

<div>Hello, my name is Liz Orsi. I am writing on behalf of <strong>my Aunt Kim and Uncle Tom</strong>. They were blindsided late Saturday night by a house fire in Southbury, Connecticut, which destroyed everything in the home they've lived in for over 25 years. Luckily, they both were able to evacuate with their 3 dogs, but couldn't save any of their belongings; everything is gone. <strong>Kim is one of the strongest people I know after facing multiple medical emergencies after getting diagnosed with Necrotizing Fasciitis and being hospitalized for months afterwards.</strong> Within the last 5 years, she has come out stronger despite any of the lifelong disabilities that came with it. With that being said, she has been unable to work. Her husband, who works two jobs almost 7 days a week, is their only income. Having faced multiple challenges has taxed their resolve. All her medications and her medical equipment, badly needed, couldn't be saved.

<div>Antonio was lethargic and not urinating this morning (Feb 23rd 2024), without a second thought, I drove him over to Blue Pearl Emergency. After examination, he was diagnosed with bladder stones. This requires surgery to remove.

She has moderate brain injuries, with brain swelling that will not come down, and several skeletal fractures. <div>Casey's dad, after a long battle with mental illness, committed suicide in their home during a standoff with the police. In the standoff, many of their belongings and most of the inside of the home was saturated with gasoline, multiple windows and doors were broken, and other damages occurred. If that wasn't enough, someone broke in to their home the following week and stole many of their belongings. Their insurance is only covering a small portion of the repairs and they need $16,000 more to just make the home livable again. Right now they cannot afford to move and don't have the money to repair the damage.

A Safe Home For The Moss Family

As you all know, Brady is Chris' best friend and companion.  Chris adopted Brady almost 2 years ago.  Before being adopted by Chris, Brady was given back to the rescue two times, but finally found his forever home with Chris.  Brady is always by Chris' side and doesn't go anywhere without him.  Just this weekend, Chris and Brady relocated from New Hope, Pennsylvania back to Maine to start a brand new chapter in their lives, but this was all cut short as Brady suddenly had a medical emergency.  The first night up north, Brady was not acting himself.  He was lethargic, not eating, drinking and had no interest in going for walk, which he usually loves.  Chris immediately took him to the emergency Vet and it was initially thought that perhaps Brady had hurt his back.  He was sent home with some medication and orders to rest.  This morning, Chris could see that Brady was not doing any better, and infact was worse.  He could not walk, and had an accident which never happens.  Chris knew something was seriously wrong with Brady so back they went to the Vet immediately.  It has now been discovered that Brady is bleeding internally due to a Cancerous mass on his spleen.  He needs surgery ASAP to survive.  The vet is requiring Chris pay for the surgery upfront.  Please if you can help Chris and Brady.  No amount is too small.  Brady is all Chris has......please help them.  It has been a tough year for Chris as he just lost his job and relocated hundreds of miles away and the last thing he needs at this time is to lose his very best friend.  Please help...<img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/42065794_156864858055395_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="42065794_156864858055395_r.jpeg" />
