My name is Jamisha, and I’m reaching out for help as I work to rebuild a safe and stable life for myself and my 2-year-old son, Desmond. In February 2025, we lost our home in Hinesville, GA when the owner of our trailer park sold the property without warning. We were given just three days to move out, and the rent we had paid was never returned. With no time or money to plan, we ended up living in our truck and moving between hotels, trying to keep Desmond safe and sheltered.

Desmond is a bright, energetic little boy who loves to play and run around. He also has autism, which makes stability and routine even more important for him. Right now, I have to keep him inside our hotel room, in front of the TV, because it’s not safe for him to be outside with all the traffic. It breaks my heart to see him unable to enjoy the simple joys of childhood. I haven’t been able to work because I can’t afford daycare or a babysitter, and every dollar I have goes toward hotel rooms and food. I’m also managing my diabetes and have to pay for my medications out of pocket, which makes things even harder.

Recently, my truck was impounded, and the company holding it will officially own it on the 21st if I can’t get it back. I’m trying everything I possibly can to keep us going, but it’s been incredibly hard to get ahead.

A stable home would mean everything to us. It would give Desmond the space to play and grow, and it would give me the chance to focus on our future—whether that’s going back to school or finding a work-from-home job.
